Mrs. Martin

Dear Cottonwood School Families,
I'm looking forward to a fantastic 2017-2018 school year! I feel privileged to have joined the Cotttonwood K-8 staff as well as the Hemet Unified School District for my 6th year! I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a General Science Credential and Multiple Subject Credential. In addition, I received a Master's in Digital Teaching and Learning in Education. After completing my Master's, I found that I love incorporating multiple forms of technology into my lessons to help engage student learning.
I have a variety of different passions and hobbies in addition to education. Family and friends are extremely important to me, and my husband and I are blessed with two wonderful children. I love to garden. I grow a large variety of fruits and vegetables to use in my dishes. My home is adorned with a variety of animals. I have a Sheltie (think "Lassie" but smaller) who is named Peyton after the famous Peyton Manning, two cats named Thelma and Louise after the movie, and two parakeets that I rescued. I love to exercise and be physically fit (as much as possible while loving chocolate simultaneously). My favorite fitness activity is Zumba. I love the outdoors. Camping is a tradition for my family and we camp in the beautiful Yosemite National Park each year. I hope that my experiences and passions translate into a positive experience and dynamic learning environment for all of those in my class!
My goal is to ignite an enthusiasm and excitement for science! I want to make the curriculum and material as accessible as possible to all students and their family. I encourage open communication and if there are any comments or concerns I would love to hear them! Together we can all make for a very successful year!
Sincerely,
Courtney Martin
